4th of July

Bob's heart is strong. On Monday we thought he was ready to let go and to move on but he has his own time schedule and we can only sit with him and be there when that time comes. He may be moved to an in-care hospice facility tomorrow or Friday. He's very weak and sleeps most of the time but we enjoy every lucid moment that we get. He is just amazing.

We have been reading the notes on this blog and they are uplifting. Thank you.

Verva, Katy, and Sarah,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Bob in this very difficult time. He is a fighter -- you have to be to survive working at XOM. If you need anything at all give us a call.

Dear Verva, Sarah, and Katy,

Yes, Bob's (your dad's) heart is strong - filled with all the love you've always given him. I believe he's holding on because he doesn't want to leave you in this life any more than you want him to go.

There is no way I can claim in the smallest way that I understand what you're going through. I can only say with certainty that I recognize how much you love him and have made his life such a happy and fulfilled one.

I'm so grateful to all of you for your willingness to share this love with the rest of us at this difficult time. Peace and blessing to all of you as you continue this sad journey.

May God bless Bob for his strenght to hang on. He is a very special man and will be missed by many but in the mean time he hangs on with such strenght. I will continue to pray that he does not suffer. May God bless all of the family for the strenght and courage they continue to show. Bev Thomas Hanson

your strength of family will continue...bob will always be there for you....i have seen the love, devotion, sense of humor and compassion in each of you. katy and sarah were guided by the love they saw in their parents when they chose their husbands - they are both loving and supportive in this difficult time.

the love you are giving to bob and each other is giving bob what he needs and at the same time giving you what you need in knowing that you are there to give him comfort and care....

you are all amazing and i am so blessed to be a small part of your lives.....

love, rindy

Dear Densmores,

Bob has a great heart. He is one of the few really great human beings we know. He loves without reservation.

Margie and I are thinking of you all the time. You are certainly in our prayers. We want God's best for all of you. Your family has been so generous to share this time with all of your friends. Be strong and hug each other a lot.

We love you all!

Verva, Katy and Sarah,
I know you guys are going through difficult times and my prayers are with each of you.
I am very proud that our paths crossed in Benicia and that I had a priviledge and honor to know and work with Bob since the mid 80's. Bob is an officer and a gentleman and an inspiraton to all of us. He will always be number one to me. May God bless him and his family.

Bob and Verva and family -

Bob always has the best smile and the ability to help everyone "get along" - another thing I appreciated about getting to know Bob on the building committee was his generous leadership style. Your family exemplifies "knowing how to love" and you have given so much to so many by your willingness to share and let us love you through this blog.
With care,
Laurie

You have many old friends who are thinking and praying for you here in Benicia. Bob was a great man to work with given his great sense of humor. His thoughtfulness in sharing this challenging time only highlights his strength. Thank you Verva, Katy and Sarah for remembering Bob's many friends during this challenging time. We will pray that God will give you strength as each of you deal with the challenges ahead.

Verva, Katy & Sarah,

Bob has always been a big bear-of-a-man with a disarming smile and a true love of life & family. Bob's courageous blog has shown that, despite the ravages of cancer, he has remained big & loving and an inspiration for many of us. I'm glad our paths crossed.

Take care, Mark Sechler

I am lifting each of you up in prayer and know that God will provide comfort and strength during this difficult time. Bob's catchy phase, "piece of cake, one day at a time', has blessed me greatly.

Dear Bob,
When Katy first gave me the link to your blog, I remember thinking that you were so brave to do that. I soon realized what a humorous man you are, with your very own quiks and passions. I looked forward to reading your writing, because I saw how wise it was, and optimistic...Over time, I realized that only a very good and loving man could have built the wonderful family and friend connections that I see in the outpouting from the comments section. It is a privilege to get to know you through your writing. I told Katy that you had become a hero to me and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Love to you and to your wonderful family.
