Arrangements

There will be a memorial service Thursday, July 12, 2pm, at Emerson Unitarian Church, 1900 Bering Drive, Houston, TX 77057, near the Galleria. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. The service will be led by Matt Tittle, Bob and Verva's minister from Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church.

If you are traveling from out of town, there are many hotels in the League City area (along Nasa Road One or Hwy 146) to be near the family, or in the Galleria Area to be near the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, Bob chose two causes near to his heart. The Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church Capital Campaign supports the building project he was deeply involved in, his last big project in retirement. The Nature Conservancy reflects his love of nature and the outdoors.

We are also planning a memorial celebration in California, we will share the details when they are available.

As always, thank you all for your love and support.

Words actually escape me. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your life. It is so amazing to see how many people Bob has affected over the years. Although we have only known you for a few years, it feels like a lifetime of friendship. What an honor it will be to make a donation in Bob's name. I will never forget his beautiful smile or the sound of his laughter . . . what an encouraging person! Watching my children drag Bob all around the house and outside to the trampoline was such a joy. Thank you for being part of our lives. We love you and we hope to impact your lives in the same way that Bob has impacted ours.

As Mark says: "When I grow up, I want to be like Bob" =0)

Love,
Crystal

Verva, Sarah, and Katy,
We are so stunned to find out that Bob is gone. He was the best of friends--a truly great man. I can think of so many times when you helped Don and me through tough times. If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know. Don was very upset to find out that Mr. Bob, someone he looked up to from the time he was a baby, was gone. We will miss him terrribly.

Love,
Chloe and Don

Cousin Verva, and Katy and Sarah,
I'm not going to be there physically on Thursday. But I'll be with you all. It was so great to have Bob as my big cousin... It is great now to have a large loving family like we do. I'm thinking of you all constantly.
Love,
Wayne

Verva, Sarah and Katy, although you don't really know me, you've met me at one function or another or Exxon. I worked with Bob in Houston (then I came back to Baytown), am a 'sister' blood donator and met Katy when she came to work in Baytown. I work out at Fuels North in the field. Bob is one of those people you just love and can't help yourself. He's a sweet sweet man. I still have an elephant he gave me when he left one of his jobs in Houston. I collected them at the time and admired this one he had so he left it to me. It is displayed in my livingroom. Please know that my heart goes out to each of you and you are in my prayers. In Christ's love, Pat Wingate

I am so saddened. I will never forget Bob. He was so full of fun and laughter. We knew each other in high school and in my twenties married to Dick McPeak. My heart goes out to all of Bob's family. He was truly a courageous man and an inspiration to all who have known him.

I am so incredibly saddened by your loss...even though I never got the chance to meet your dad/Bob, I feel like I have through this blog and can tell that he was an extraordinary man who was full of life. I have no doubt he is among the angels in heaven, and will be with you always. I regret that Alby and I will be out of town for the service, but please know you have our love and support during this tough time.

Hugs,
Heather & Alby

Dear Verva, Katy, and Sarah,

My prayers are with you and your family. I had the pleasure of getting to know Bob while we worked together at the Baytown Refinery. He was an inspiration to me in the way he kept a peaceful disposition and was always a joy to be around. When I met Katy and heard her stories I also learned that he was a great father. I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.

Sincerely,

The Beam Family

Verva and the Densmore Family

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have great memories of our "Project Days". Bob had a get it done attitude and always treated everyone with respect.

Bob will be missed by all.

Verva, Katy and Sarah,

We are so saddened by your loss, and our prayers are with your family. Like many others, I was so blessed to be able to get to know Bob (while working with him in Baytown). His love for his family was so obvious at work, as was his genuine caring for his co-workers.
Bob has been such an inspiration to so many, and while he will be so greatly missed, his spirit will continue in those lives he touched.

In Christ's Love,
Tim & Molly Pierce

My prayers go out to the family. I've only known Bob for 1 1/2 yrs while working in Baytown but he made a great impact to me. He inspired many people at the job and I'm sure he did as well in his personal life. He was truly an amazing individual.

Sincerely,

Verva and family - thank you so much for letting the BAUUC choir share in Bob's memorial service. The service was lovely, really appropriate for remembering all that Bob meant to all of us. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Reading the blog was a enlightening and healing experience. The honesty and love that flows thru Bob's and his families words gives a glimpse into the love they share.

Love never dies..............
