Some Good News

Thanks to the efforts of our very dear friends we have an appointment with M. D. Anderson on Monday. This quick appointment is the best news we’ve had so far. For those of you who haven’t heard of MDA – it’s the premier cancer treatment center in the U. S. and maybe the world. When we started trying to get an appointment we were told to expect a 3 - 4 week wait while my file was evaluated and an appointment scheduled. We now have an appointment with Dr. Ajani on Monday.

Other good news, other than slightly elevated alcohol content, my blood work came back very good. Apparently there are “tumor markers” when you have a tumor but that was to be expected. There were no signs of any other problems which means the liver is still functioning as it should.

We did the PET scan this morning. I think heated blankets may be the best thing since canned beer. I fell asleep during the glucose injection (you have to wait for an hour for good distribution) and again in the scanner with both arms stretched over my head. When she said we were finished over the speaker, I banged my head into the scanner.

Thanks to my lovely wife, Verva, for all her work in setting all these things up for us. She’s better than heated blankets.

Hi Bob,
The blog is a great idea. I know what the problem is. You watched "Little Miss Sunshine." That is one strange movie. Also, instead of the 'vette, try a Mini-Cooper.

I also like heated blankets. When I had back surgery years ago I thought I was going to freeze. Had to ask for more blankets.

Sorry about your troubles. Our doctors are also at Kelsey Seybold. They do good work. They fixed my back, my elbow and delivered my daughter. The daughter turned out best. In looking at the pictures it looks like that was the same with you. Good looking kids!

Give Verva our best and keep on swinging. See you on Monday for your appointment.

no mini cooper for you...that is for women....a vette for you (and me to ride)! my first experience with heated blankets was when i had my first child! it's about time you got to experience a secret most "child bearing" women know!

great about the appt. and no surprise about the alcohol level....i've seen you drink! and come to think of it verva can slam back a few gentleman jack and cokes (right?)

if you can drink soup - i'm game on blending some up for you! i'll cook my way to your home! just let me know!

love you all!

BOB,

THAT'S REALLY GREAT NEWS!!!!!!! I'VE HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT M.D. ANDERSON.

NOW HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DRIVE YOUR NEW CORVETTE IF YOU KEEP BANGING YOUR HEAD.

YOU'RE A REAL TROOPER, THE ONLY THING THAT'S MISSING IS THE BADGE.

Bob, I was delighted when Katy told me you were able to get in quick at MDA, that's great news. We're thinking of you and wish you all the best.

My only question is, why would you want a new Corvette when you could get an old one instead?

Best,
Tex Duncan

Wonderful news, Bob! I'm so glad that you're going to MD Anderson! MDA is, indeed, considered by many to be the premier cancer treatment center in the nation. I've heard many good things about it from cancer survivors.

Whatcha mean 'vette?! What you need is a nice red Lamborghini. (-: I'll be waiting in line along with everyone else for a ride in it! (-:

Love & Blessings,
Naj
